What You Doing Wednesday Week 170

Good Morning Everyone!
I hope your week is going well!

The weather is beautiful in the UK.
It's amazing!
Normally we have lots and lots of rain in September
but this year we have sunshine.
It's made it a very special month.

I have a snuggly little boy home at the moment.
I had to go to the doctors for a change in medication.
Therefore I caught a throat infection.
Then I nicely passed it onto my son.
I try and stay away from the doctors for this reason
but there are times I have to go in.

So to make it a nicer time for him
I am making him his own snuggly pair of socks.
I know I started a pair last week but
I just wasn't feeling them.
The design wasn't quite right for him.
So roll on a new pair;

As you can see I've actually finished one sock.
I am hoping to spend today making
the other one.

I am reading;

Three Silver Dove
by Deborah Garner

The story is based around a journalist
who is doing a series of columns
on places to visit.
Her journey starts when she comes to
the Health spa resort
and she soon becomes friendly
with all the locals and starts to uncover
a mystery.
I like the main character Paige
and am enjoying the twists and turns
through the story.
Anyway who couldn't love a book with
Llama's in :-)

Now it's your turn to share what you are doing.
It doesn't have to be crochet, anything you are making
is perfect.
Please add the pin to your post & check out a couple
of other people that are sharing their work

The Big Book of Mod Podge ~ Book Review

Big Book of Mod Podge, The

ISBN: 9781454708698
Publisher: Lark Crafts
Publication Date: August 2015
RRP: £16.99

Available direct from GMC Group.

This really is the "BIG" book of Mod Podge.
It contains more than 90 projects.
Yes that's right 90+.

Mod Podge has made such a huge difference
to a crafters life.
They have an amazing array of products
that you can use to make an amazing
array of projects.

If you haven't used Mod Podge previously
or you want to use it more then I really
think you'll enjoy this book.

Who knew it could be used for sooo much!
You really will be amazed at what can be created.
You will be able to add your own personal
touch to items that will make your projects
have that extra something.

I love how they use something simple like
lace and add it to a plain black bag
and it just takes bag to a whole new level.
It looks so expensive, unique and stylish.

The start of the book covers the range of Mod Podge
products.
It takes you through what the product is and
how it can be used.
Mod Podge don't only produce glue anymore.
The range is vast and contains tools that
can make things easier for you.

The next part of the book takes you through
the basic steps of using Mod Podge.
It talks you through how to plan the design
and how to put your project together.

I knew that Mod Podge could be used
in decoupage but I was completely surprised
at the other ways it can be used.

Quite a lot of the designs are designed
so that they are budget-minded
and are beginner friendly.

The book is split into sections;
Extraordinary Everyday Crafts
Family Mod Podge
Totally Tweens
Oh So Stylish
DIY Fashion
It's Art! Mod Podge Mixed Media
Furniture Facelifts
Retro Revival
Handmade Creations for Holidays and Celebrations

This is the sort of book that you will be making
projects within for years to come.

The projects are written in small easy to
understand steps.
Pictures are also included to help you to understand
what you need to do to create the project.

I couldn't even begin to describe everything
that is packed into this book.
With such a huge amount of projects
you are sure to find something you are going
to want to make.

If you love crafting then I would
highly recommend this book.

The Crochet Workshop ~ Book Review

ISBN: 9781782212201
Publisher: Search Press
Publication Date: 14 July 2015
RRP: £7.99

Available direct from Search Press.

If you don't know how to crochet or you know someone who wants to learn
then this is a brilliant book.

The book takes you through easy to follow steps to help you to learn
how to crochet.

Emma is a mobile consultant for Rowan Yarns
and uses he vast knowledge to create
an amazing book that not only teaches you to crochet
she has also designed simplistic designs that are perfect for the modern lifestyle.

The projects are designed to show off the skills you are learning
and give you the "wow" factor for what you can make.

Everything you need to know about is in the book.
You start of learning about the basic equipment
that you will need.
The brilliant thing about crochet is you don't need much to get you started.
You are then taken through a short description of understanding yarn.
Once you've read the section of things you need to know, abbreviations etc
it's then time to start your crocheting journey.

Everything you need to know to crochet is taken
in easy to understand steps.
Each step includes a clear photo to help you along your way.
You will learn how to create a slip knot, crocheting a foundation chain
and then it's onto the exciting part of learning the stitches.
Not only do you learn the basic stitches you also learn how to join
in a new colour, increasing, decreasing stitches,
how to join two pieces together, working in the round.

You may think that this is a huge amount to learn in one
book but you are taken through a journey and you'll be shocked
how quickly you will pick up each lesson and complete it.

Once you have learnt all the stitches etc. you then get the fun
part of making projects to practice everything you have learnt.

The patterns are in written format in US terms but UK terms
are also included so which ever terms you are learning
you will be able to understand the patterns easily.

I love the projects as family and friends won't realise that
you have made them being a beginner.
The projects are stylish and easy to produce but with a big impact.

If you know someone who wants to learn to crochet
then this would be a brilliant gift for them.
Why not buy the book with a hook and the yarn for one of the projects.
Crochet is a beautiful craft and is one that is easily picked up.

I know I'll be making some of the projects from the book.
They really are beautiful and practical.
