I've Made Friday Week 150

Good Morning everyone!
I hope your week is going well.
I hope you are looking forward to the weekend.

Yesterday was the most amazing day out of
a most ordinary day.
Little Red was off school (due to his school being a polling station),
hubby was on an away day with work so left
before 7am and won't be back till this afternoon.

Little Red woke up at 5:30am, yes that time is right!

I was tired so snoozed a bit on and off throughout the day
but when I was awake we had the most relaxing day.

I worked on the shawl I was making and finished it.

I worked on my necklet and finished it.

I started reading a short story and finished it
& started reading another book.

I told you about the plants that Little Red planted.
They haven't quite gone to plan.
Turns out the dog likes lettuce, broccoli & radish.
Little Red actually watched him tip over a pot
and then start eating them.
So they all had to be moved.
We managed to save most of them.

It was such a beautiful day.
It was fantastic to see all the plants growing and the flowers coming out.

Little Red spent most of the day out in the garden.

I spent quite a lot of the day in the conservatory.
On our new glider.

Or on the couch out in the garden :-)

Now onto what I've been making this week;

I finished my shawl (scarf) by Avondale Patterns
The pattern is called ocean scarf.
I used James C Brett Twinkle yarn.
It has flecks of blue foil in it that catch the light.

I love it!
I might even make it again in more daytime colours.
It's a really easy pattern to follow
and there are fantastic pictures to guide you through each step.

I finished my necklet to match my hat.
I didn't want it as big as a cowl.
I wanted it to be more of a fashion item that you can wear with the hat.
I kept the fold over theme going through it.

I made it using Shepherds Delight

Little Reds caterpillars are growing quickly!
He is really excited about them turning into butterflies.

I also finished my nemisis.
Learning to knit in the round with brainfog is really difficult!!
It you miss a stitch or drop a stitch or pickup a stitch
it makes the whole thing go wrong.
My stitches still look messy which I am hoping to rectify with practice.
As a first knit in the round I am super pleased with it.

I made this using the Craftsy class;
It's a fantastic class and I can't wait to make more
of the projects and learn more.

The fantastic thing is Craftsy is having a sale!

I'm hopefully going to be designing the mandala
this week for the International Yarn Bombing Wall

I read Henry VIII by Abigail Archer

The book is well written and I was amazed by
a number of the things in the book.
I knew the basics about Henry VIII and his reign
but there was so much more and the time line
that I learnt.
It made me understand a whole lot more about the history
of the United Kingdom
and the reason the way the country is the way it is today.
It's well worth a read as it's fascinating and surprising.
It gave a good insight into his behavior and why some things happened.
It does shock you as well that someone could behave like that.

Now it's time for linky love.

  1. I love seeing what Little Red is up to! Henry VIII sounds really interesting. I don't know if you're into podcasts, but there's a free one called "The British History Podcast" by an American guy called Jamie Jeffers which is -so- good. I've been listening for years and he started at 'the beginning of time' and has only just got up to Aethelred and that lot! I hope you get a chance to check it out, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
