Charlotte Flapper Cloche Hat ~ Free Crochet Pattern

Charlotte Flapper Cloche Hat


The pattern is in US terms
Items required
5mm (H) hook
Manos Del Uruguay Shepherds Delight Silk Blend available from Xena Knits
Stitch marker
Wool needle
Brooch

Guidelines
At the end of each round just carry on, do not join with a slip stitch. 
Mark the start of each round and then move marker as a round is completed.
HK – hook                                           CH – chain                           SS – Slip Stitch
SC –                       Single crochet                                   
SC Inc –                Single Crochet Increase. Increase by placing 2 sc in 1 stitch.
SC Dec –               Single Crochet Decrease. Hook through 1st stitch, yarn over hook, pull hook through, hook through next stitch, yarn over hook, pull through. Yarn over hook and through all the loops.
HDC –                    half double crochet                        
HDC Inc –             Half double crochet Increase.  Increase by placing 2 hdc in 1 stitch.
HDC Dec –           Half double crochet decrease.  Yarn over hook, through 1st stitch, yarn over hook through, yarn over hook, through next stitch, yarn over hook pull through.  Yarn over hook and pull through all the loops. 
Gauge
7 sts & 6 rows = 2”
If your hat is coming out too big go down one hook size and vice versa if it’s too small.

Using 5mm (H) hook and  yarn. 
Ch 2 (or use magic circle)
Round 1) 12 hdc in the 2nd ch from the hook (12)
Round 2) *1 hdc, 1 hdc inc* x 6 (18)
Round 3) *2 hdc, 1 hdc inc* x 6 (24)
Round 4) *3 hdc, 1 hdc inc* x 6 (30)
Round 5) *4 hdc, 1 hdc inc* x 6 (36)
Round 6) *5 hdc, 1 hdc inc* x 6 (42)
Round 7) *6 hdc, 1 hdc inc* x 6 (48)
Round 8) *7 hdc, 1 hdc inc * x 6 (54)
Round 9) *8 hdc, 1 hdc inc* x 6 (60) 
Round 10) *9hdc, 1 hdc inc* x 6 (66) 
Round 11) *10 hdc, 1 hdc inc* x 6 (72)
Round 12 - 21) hdc around (72)
                       
Round 22) *1 hdc inc, 5 hdc* x 12 (84)
Round 23) 84 hdc around (84)
Round 24) *6 hdc, 1 hdc inc* x 12 (96)
Round 25) *1 hdc inc, 7 hdc* x 12 (108)
Round 26) 108 hdc around (108)
Round 27) 1 ss, 1 sc, 32 hdc, 1 sc, 1 ss, turn (36)
Round 28) miss ss, 1 ss, 1 sc, 30 hdc, 1 sc, 1 ss, finish (34)
Fold one side of the hat over to create the look and attach with a couple of stitches to keep it in place.
  

     
Flower
Using 5mm (H) hook and  yarn. 
Ch 2 (or use magic circle)
Round 1) 8 hdc in 2nd ch from hk, join with a ss (8)
Round 2) 1 sc in back loop of the same st as the ss, *ch 15, 1 sc in 2nd ch from hk, 13 sc, 1 sc in back loop of next st of round 1)* repeat around, ss to 1st sc, finish
Round 3) Fold 1st petal down, ss through the end of the petal and the front loop not used in round 2)

 attach the brooch to the middle of the flower


Then attach to the hat
