I must admit my heart missed a beat when I saw the cover of this book.
The one thing that has excited me the most about being able to knit
is the beautiful shawls.
There is something amazingly beautiful about a knitted shawl.
The designs in this book back up this fact.
Sock yarn is perfect for making amazing shawls.
and Jen uses to show off her designs.
The book is split into three sections:
- Lace-Edged Shawls
- Allover-Lace Shawls
- Beyond the Triangle Shawls
Jen even uses the book to teach you how to read charts & use stitch markers.
As a new knitted this is invaluable to increase my knowledge.
The patterns are in written and chart format.
The charts are especially good when performing a repeating pattern.
I love her use of colours and the different designs to bring you such
unique looks.
Just looking at the pictures I want to make all of them.
Shawls are making a come back.
With everyone watching programs about ages past
they are noticing how beautiful things like shawls can be.
And with 15 Striking Shawls to choose from there
is something for every occasion.
With some of the patterns being suitable for experienced knitters
there are patterns that are sure to expand and develope your skills.
I've already asked for lots of Sock weight yarn for Christmas.
I'm hoping my January will be full
of knitted shawls from this book.
I'll be letting you know how I get on.
The only problem is choosing which to make.
Which one would you make?
Who would you make it for?
