I hope your week is going well!
It's cold and wet outside in the UK
so I'm spending the time inside
having some crafty fun.
My CFS is worse due to this awful weather
but it isn't going to get the better of me.
I'm not able to crochet as much at the moment
as my shoulder is playing up.
To keep my mind off it I've been doing some other things :-).
I have got a few projects on the go.
They are going a bit slower than normal
but I can't wait till they are finished
as they are really exciting me.
This is hopefully going to be the Iris Flapper Dream Hat.
I was given a skein of Scrumptious by Fybersates.
It's 45% silk and 55% merino.
I have picked this skein up numerous times.
Everytime I keep stroking the skein
but couldn't decide what to make with it.
Then it hit me. Why didn't I make a set up
with the yarn as the accent.
I'm going to make a cream set of hat, cowl & fingerless gloves
in cream with this yarn to spice it up.
I'm hoping it will work as I'm really excited about it.
The other project I'm working on is:
This is hopefully going to be a samurai hat.
I think I've got the design straight in my head now.
I just need to put the ideas together and get it made.
The other fun stuff:
Little Red is learning about the Romans at the moment.
I purchased an elephant mosaic for him to make.
I find that making things puts the ideas in his head quicker.
It was also a fun project.
In the pack you get a clear plastic sheet.
A pattern guide and small plastic blocks
to use as the pieces.
Once it's finished you can hang it up in the window and let the sunshine
through (well if we had any).
The above mosaic was an easy one that Little Red
could do without a lot of help.
I decided to get a set that is more like
a real mosaic so that we could work together on it.
I decided to start out small and
bought the coaster set.
I still have to grout it but I'll hopefully get that done soon.
I'm quite pleased with how they are looking.
I think they will make more sense once they are
on the coasters and grouted.
I've also been drawing more Zentangle designs but you'll have
to wait till Friday for them :-).
I'm reading 2 book at the moment.
The first book I started quite a while
ago and stopped reading because I was really
frustrated by some of the things going on
within the story line.
I'm giving it another chance but I'm not sure
I'll last to the end:
Moonlit by Jadie Jones
The book is about a girl Tanzy.
She has been brought up on a farm with horses.
Her dad is killed and now things have taken a turn for the worse.
People come into her life that may or may not be there to help her.
The story is full of twists and flashbacks to the past.
The other book I'm reading is:
Vigilante by Claude Bouchard
This is a fantastic book.
The book starts in the life of a small boy
who knows his sister is being attacked by their
step-father.
The book them moves to now and the little boy
is now a grown man.
As a boy he vowed to never standby and let someone
be hurt or attacked every again.
This is were the story gets exciting there is a vigilante
that is attacking and killing people who have done wrong
but seem to have gotten away with it.
The killings have been going on for 6 months
and the police are no nearer to catching him.
The thing I'm loving about the story is you are constantly
second guessing yourself as to who is the vigilante.
I also want to tell you about the book
I'm reading with Little Red at the moment:
I also want to tell you about the book
I'm reading with Little Red at the moment:
How to Train Your Dragon
by Cressida Cowell
I don't know about you but I love the cartoon
and films of how to train a dragon.
Little Red thinks they are fantastic
so we decided to get the books.
They are soooo different than the films.
The characters are the same or similar.
The dragons are different and how the story
plays out are completely different.
We are really enjoying them but Little Red
has had to get his head around the differences.
To be honest they are even more enjoyable
and in some ways it wouldn't of been
as good if they were exactly the same.
Now it's your turn to share what you are doing.
It doesn't have to be crochet, anything you are making
is perfect.
