Free Crochet Pattern - Owl Phone Cozy

Owl Phone Cozy

  


The pattern is in US terms
Items required 
4 mm (6) hook. If you don’t have a 4mm hook use a 4.25mm (G) hook instead.
1 Figgi Yarns ~ Moss Green Sifa Silver Cotton Yarn x 50 g ball – Due to the silver in the yarn it may boost your phones signal.
Black, Cream, Beige Double Knit Acrylic Yarn 
Stitch marker
Wool needle
1cm Button

Guidelines
At the end of each round just carry on, do not join with a slip stitch.  
Mark the start of each round and then move marker as a round is completed.
HK – hook CH – chain SS – Slip Stitch
SC – Single crochet
SC Inc – Single Crochet Increase. Increase by placing 2 sc in 1 stitch.
SC Dec – Single Crochet Decrease. Hook through 1st stitch, yarn over hook, pull hook through, hook through next stitch, yarn over hook, pull through. Yarn over hook and through all the loops.
HDC – half double crochet
HDC Inc – Half double crochet Increase.  Increase by placing 2 hdc in 1 stitch.
Gauge
9 sts & 9 rows = 2”
Approximate Size
Width: 3 ¼” (8 cm)  Height: 6 ¼” (16 cm)
Approximate Yardage
Moss green yarn – 54.13 yards 
Black – Scraps
Cream – 2.35 yards
Beige – 1.15 yards
Phone Cozy
Using 4mm (6) hook and moss green yarn. 
As this phone cozy won’t fit all sizes you will have to ch the amount to the width of your phone + 4 ch’s
For the above size Ch 14
Row 1) 1 sc in 2nd ch from hk, 12 sc, ch 1, turn (13)
Row 2 – 10) 13 sc, ch 1, turn
                 
Row 11) 13 sc, ch 13, ss to last sc of row to create a round (26)
Round 12) Ch 1, 1 sc in same st, (mark with a stitch marker), 25 sc around, join with ss to 1st sc (26)
Round 13 – 36) Ch 1, 1 sc in same st as join, 25 sc, join with ss to 1st sc (26)
Measure you phone in the cozy. If your phone is longer crochet more rounds.
ss through both sides to seal up the end, finish
 Turn the phone over, join yarn to the middle of the flap, Ch 4, join with ss to create button loop (you can alter the amount of ch’2 to fit any size button)
Owl Ears
Cut 6 pieces of the moss yarn 4” (10cm) long
Pull 3 pieces through each side of the phone cozy and knot
Eyes
4mm (6) hook & cream yarn
Ch 2
Round 1) 6 hdc in 2nd ch from hk (6)
Round 2) 6 hdc inc, 2 ss (would be in the 1st 2 hdc of this round), finish (14) (leave enough yarn to attach to the cozy)








Use Black yarn to embroider eyelashes to eyes






Attach to the phone cozy   










Beak
Beige yarn & 4mm (6) hook
Ch 2
Row 1) 2 sc in 2nd ch from hk, ch 1, turn (2)
Row 2) 2 sc, ch 1, turn (2)
Row 3) 2 sc inc, ch 1, turn (4)
Row 4) 1 sc inc, 2 sc, 1 sc inc, finish (6) (leave enough yarn to attach to the phone cozy)
attach to the phone cozy   

Wings x 2
Moss green yarn & 4mm (6) hook
Ch 2
Row 1) 2 sc in 2nd ch from hk, ch 1, turn (2)
Row 2) 2 sc inc, ch 1, turn (4)
Row 3 – 9) 4 sc, ch 1, turn (4)
            
Row 10) 1 sc dec, finish (1) (leave enough yarn to attach to the phone cozy)
   attach the wings to the phone cozy

  2. I'm going to make this for me! I don't care for the stiff plastic/leather cases. I made a knitted case for my camera a long time ago! It needs a new one so now I can make two! Thanks for the pattern and I use the spiral technique whenever possible. I could go on but this is for comments not a blog post! I look forward to seeing your next patterns!
