I hope everyone's week is going well!
Number one son had to go for his first
blood tests yesterday :-(
He has been having quite a lot of nosebleeds
and they just want to double check his blood counts.
I had low platelets when I was a toddler
so they just want to make sure.
It didn't go very well.
They used the new plastic needles
and it kept popping out of his vein.
He'd had "magic cream" to make the
area numb but it didn't help due to them having
to keep putting the needle in.
We are buying him a treat after school to make up for it.
On a brighter note we have a family project
going on.
All 3 of us are working on this one.
Little Red is learning about nocturnal animals at school.
He wanted to make something for the theme.
We have decided to make a automata.
The idea is as you turn the handle the background
will change from day to night.
When it's at night the badger and the hedgehog
will pop out of their holes and then
when it changes to day they will disappear back into the holes.
Here is how far we've got so far:
As you can see it needs painting and the hedgehog & badger making.
The big thing is it works.
It's been great working on this all together.
Little Red is so excited.
As usual he is being very exact about what he wants.
I'm also making a square:
This may look finished but there
are quite a few rows of the flower
before I've finished.
I'm also making another square from
Rowan's Learn to Crochet

ReplyDeleteMarci,
DeleteThanks, he has bounced back so well. Don't think he'll agree to have it done again :-)
Sorry i got behind on my comments. I'm only just catching up.

I might call the square done, it's quite pretty as it is, love the colors too, very springy looking. Hope things improve for your son. My older brother had lots of nose bleeds as a kid, but they really never did anything; basically they said he would grow out of it, and he did.

Thank you, it's a really good square to make. I'm sure he'll be fine. I just don't want him to end up like me. I spent most of my childhood having anything from 2-4 nosebleeds a day. I ended up having to have treatment as I lost over a pint of blood and they decided it had gotten dangerous so I had to be treated.
Deleteaww poor guy! hope all is ok xo
ReplyDeleteHe'll be fine, just not sure he'll agree to another blood test :-)
