Free Bauble Newborn Hat Pattern


Newborn Bauble Hat

The pattern is in US terms
Items required
5mm (H) hook                    White Double knit (8 ply)
Stitch marker                      Wool needle

Guidelines
At the end of each round just carry on, do not join with a slip stitch. 
Mark the start of each round and then move marker as a round is completed.
HK - hook
CH - chain
SS – Slip Stitch
SC – Single crochet
SC Dec – Single Crochet Decrease. Hook through 1st stitch, yarn over hook, pull hook through, hook through next stitch, yarn over hook, pull through. Yarn over hook and through all the loops.
HDC – half double crochet
HDC Inc – Half double crochet Increase.  Increase by placing 2 hdc in 1 stitch.
HDC Dec – Half double crochet decrease.  Yarn over hook, through 1st stitch, yarn over hook through, hook through next stitch, yarn over hook pull through.  Yarn over hook and pull through all the loops.  
Gauge
7 sts & 6 rows = 2”
If your hat is coming out too big go down one hook size and vice versa if it’s too small.
If the hat is tight don’t crochet the last round of sc.
Basic Hat
Using 5mm (H) hook & yarn.
At the end of each round just carry on.

Ch 2 (or use magic circle)
Round 1)              6 hdc in the 2nd ch from the hook (6)
Round 2)              6 hdc inc (12)
Round 3)              *1 hdc, 1 hdc inc * x 6 (18)
Round 4)              *2 hdc, 1 hdc inc* x 6 (24)
Round 5)              *3 hdc, 1 hdc inc * x 6 (30), 1 ss
Round 6)              Ch 2, 2 hdc in the same st as the ss, ch 1, miss 3 stitches,* (3 hdc, ch 1, 3 hdc) in the next st, ch 1, miss 3 st* x 6, 3 hdc in same st, ch 1,miss 1 st,  ss to join to the top of the ch 2. (56)
Round 7)              turn, ss in ch space, ch 2, 2 hdc in same space, ch 1, *(3 hdc, ch 1, 3 hdc) in next ch space, ch 1, 3 hdc in nxt ch space, ch 1* x 3, ss to join to the top of the ch 2 (40)
Round 8)              turn, ss in ch space, ch 2, 2 hdc in same space, ch 1, *3 hdc in nxt ch space, ch 1* x 11, ss to join to the top of the ch 2 (47)
Round 9)              turn, ss in ch space, ch 2, 2 hdc in same space, ch 1, *3 hdc in nxt ch space, ch 1,(3 hdc, ch 1, 3 hdc) in nxt ch space, ch 1* x 3, 3 hdc in nxt ch space, ch 1, (3 hdc , ch 1, 3 hdc) in nxt ch space, ch 1, ss to join to the top of the ch 2 (52)
Round 10 – 13)   turn, ss in ch space, ch 2, 2 hdc in same space, ch 1, *3 hdc in nxt ch space, ch 1* x 15, ss to join to the top of the ch 2 (64)
Round 14)            Ch 1, 64 sc around, ss to join to ch 1 (65)
Round 15)            Ch 1, *4 sc, 1 sc dec* x 10, 5 sc, ss to join (55)
Round 16)            Ch 1, *3 sc, 1 sc dec* x      11, ss to join (44)
Round 17)            Ch 1, *2 sc, 1 sc dec* x 11, ss to join (33)
Round 18)            Ch 1, 33 sc around, ss to join, finish (33)
