Free Aang Crochet Hat Pattern

Aang Hat 3 yrs+

The pattern is in US terms

Items required
5mm (H) hook & 4mm (6) hook.  If you don’t have a 4mm hook use a 4.25mm (G) hook instead.
White & Blue Double knit (8ply)
Stitch marker
Wool needle

Guidelines
At the end of each round just carry on. 
Mark the start of each round and then move marker as a round is completed. You Don’t need to ss to join you just carry on to make the next round
HK - hook
CH - chain
SS – Slip Stitch
SC – Single Crochet
SC INC – Single Crochet increase
SC DEC – Single Crochet increase
HDC – half double crochet
HDC INC – Half double crochet Increase.  Increase by placing 2 hdc in 1 stitch.
HDC DEC – Half double crochet decrease.  Yarn over hook, through 1st stitch, yarn over hook through, hook through next stitch, yarn over hook pull through.  Yarn over hook and pull through all the loops.
Gauge
2” = 7 stitches x 6 rows
If your hat is coming out too big go down one hook size and vice versa if it’s too small.
Total Approx. Weight
39 g
Sizing guide:
45.72cm – 50.80 cm 18” – 20”  approx. size around. 20.32cm 8” high
This Hat fits most ages 3 yrs + as they usually stretch.  If you are wanting to make it larger add another row of HDC increases and add another row to the pattern.

Using 5mm (H) hook and white yarn.
Ch 2 (or use magic circle)
Round 1)              6 hdc in the 2nd ch from the hook (6)
Round 2)              6 hdc inc (12)
Round 3)              *1 hdc, hdc inc* x 6 (18)
Round 4)              *2 hdc, hdc inc* x 6 (24)
Round 5)              *3 hdc, hdc inc* x 6 (30)
Round 6)              *4 hdc, hdc inc* x 6 (36)
Round 7)              *5 hdc, hdc inc* x 6 (42)
Round 8)              *6 hdc, hdc inc* x 6 (48)
Round 9)              *7 hdc, hdc inc * x 6 (54)
Round 10)            *8 hdc, hdc inc* x 6 (60)
Round 11)            *9hdc, hdc inc* x 6 (66)
Round 12-24)      hdc around (66)
Round 25)            hdc round, 2 ss, finish
The hat will stretch to most sizes. If you do want to make a hat that is slightly bigger do another increase row
Round 12)            *10 hdc, 1 hdc inc* x 6 (72) and then carry on the rounds for an extra row
Round 13-26)      72 hdc
Round 27)            72 hdc round, 2 ss, finish

Arrow
Blue yarn & 4mm hook
Ch 2
Row 1)                 2 sc in 2nd ch from hk, ch 1, turn (2)
Row 2)                 2 sc inc, ch 1, turn (4)
Row 3)                 1 sc inc, 2 sc, 1 sc inc, ch 1, turn (6)
Row 4)                 1 sc inc, 4 sc, 1 sc inc, ch 1, turn (8)
Row 5)                 1 sc inc, 6 sc, 1 sc inc, ch 1, turn (10)
Row 6)                 1 sc inc, 8 sc, 1 sc inc, ch 1, turn (12)
Row 7)                 1 sc inc, 10 sc, 1 sc inc, ch 1, turn (14)
Row 8)                 1 sc inc, 12 sc, 1 sc inc, ch 1, turn (16)
Row 9)                 1 sc inc, 14 sc, 1 sc inc, ch 1, turn (18)
Row 10)               1 sc inc, 16 sc, 1 sc inc, ch 1, turn (20), finish

Join the yarn to the 8th stitch in  & ch 1
Row 11)               6 sc, ch 1, turn
Row 12 – 39)      6 sc, ch 1, turn (measure as you go to make sure the length is correct to the size of your hat)
Row 40)               6 sc, finish (leave enough yarn to attach the whole arrow to the hat)

Attach the arrow to the hat
        
The hat is now finished J
