I can't believe we are nearly at the end of August!
I hope your month has gone well
& your week is going well so far!
Now this week I've got quite a few hats on the go.
I am in the middle of making a "Julia Cloche"
I bought the pattern from:
I am altering the pattern slightly as I want a slightly different look.
Just the headband to fit and flower to make.
Now I have bad news about the other hat I was making.
I made it:
Sorry about the awful picture.
I was at the end of my tether at this point
& just wanted to frog it.
The pattern just worked out too long and too big.
I changed hook size etc and my gauge was coming out a lot smaller
than the pattern required but it was still huge!!!!
So I decided to design my own
but you'll have to wait to see that one.
Now as you may or may not know I set-up a group
called "Crochet Addict"
I sent a question out asking what animal hats people
would like to see made.
I got quite a few ideas so I have made a start on them.
First we have the Frog Hat
We have the Ladybird (ladybug) Hat
We have the Meerkat Hat
The mouse hat
Just the basic hats to make up for the whale, bear & chicken
to make up next.
I'll make the basics up first and then onto the features.
I'll hopefully have some to show you on Friday
& then more next week.
This week I am reading:
Kindle:
Book:
So far it's looking like a really good book.
I'll let you know more when
I do my review.
Update on the butterflies
They ALL hatched into butterflies.
We kept them for a couple of days,
feeding them on sugar water
& then we let them free.
This is one sat on Daddy's hand
As you can tell Little Red was very
excited when they flew off.
He even picked flowers for them before they flew off :-)
I would highly recommend this project to do with kids.
Little Red loved coming down each morning
and seeing how much bigger they were.
The bit were they were in the cocoon was a bit boring
but when they came out it made his year!
The best thing is they will hopefully increase the population round here so we will see more.
We have kept the kit and may send off for another batch next year.
Now it's your turn to share what you are doing.
It doesn't have to be crochet, anything you are making
is perfect.

The butterflies are beautiful. Congratulations! We did the experiment in primary school. I still remember the exitement. Of course we tried it at home as well. Not all the caterpillars morphed into butterflies.
ReplyDeleteThank you ever so much. Shame not all the caterpillars made it to butterflies.
DeleteSorry the hat didn't work out. I can never get a cloche to fit, but I don't suit them so it's not a worry! Lovely to see the butterflies!
ReplyDeleteThanks. Shame you can't get one to fit!
DeleteI'll hopefully have some of them finished for tomorrow. love the work!
